Special Tourist Visa  (STV) 

Documents required

  • Passport with a minimum validity of no less than 12 months prior to departure and its copy
  • Three completed visa application forms
  • Recent passport-sized photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm) of the applicant
  • Proof of residence in Nepal (only for Non-Nepali passport holders)
  • Evidence of adequate finance, e.g. an updated 6-month bank statement with a minimum blance of THB 20,000 (NPR 80,000) per person and THB 40,000 (NPR 160,000) per family
  • Confirmed accommodation under the applicant’s name for the duration of intended stay in Thailand
  • “Police name check certificate” issued less than 3 months prior to submitting the visa application
  • A complete “Medical Certificate Form” with a valid/legal rubber stamp of medical doctor to confirm its authenticity
  • A certificate of health insurance issued by Thai insurance companies covering the entire period of stay in Thailand containing the details of coverage as follows: In-house patients of not less than THB 400,000/policy year, as for out-patients, not less than THB 40,000/policy year.   • A fully paid hotel reservation for your stay in Thailand issued by the hotel showing the duration of stay, and hotel’s contact details and tax ID number; OR A fully paid residential lease in Thailand issued by the lessor showing the duration of stay, and the lessor’s contact details and tax ID number; OR A hire-purchase or mortgage agreement of immovable property; OR Condominium title deed;
  • Proof of relationship (For the spouse: Marriage certificate; For the child/children whose age under 20 years old: Birth certificate)
  • Evidence of reservation of flight to Thailand
  • Visa fee

Validity of a visa

  • STV is valid for a single entry into Thailand for a long-term stay for tourism purpose only. Its validity is 3 months from the date of its issuance.

Period of stay

  • Upon entering into Thailand, a stay permit will be granted to the visitor for a maximum period of 90 days. This permit may be extended while the visitor is in Thailand for a maximum of 2 times (twice only) with a maximum validity of 90 days for each extension.
  • The maximum stay in total, therefore, shall NOT exceed 270 days including the quarantine period 
  • STV cannot be changed to any other type of visa during the duration of stay in Thailand
